If we hadn't baked them ourselves, we never would have guessed that Cissé Trading Co.'s dark, dense, nearly molten double chocolate chip cookies come from a box. We'd suspected they'd stand above the usual mixes because they're developed by Jenny McCoy, the former, award-winning pastry chef of Tom Colicchio's New York restaurant Craft. And they do. Co-founder Diana Lovett imports an organic, Fair Trade-certified chocolate from Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic, with which Ms. McCoy creates star-quality hot cocoa mix—in semisweet, vanilla bean and cinnamon-spiced dark chocolate ($17 for a 10-pack). Then there are the cacao-heavy, ready-to-go mixes (just add butter, eggs, milk or flour) for brownies, layer cake, muffins and, yes, those cookies (from $9), all of them perfect excuses to be lazy. abesmarket.com
